The GAN was introduced on September 17 and includes over 30 founding organizations focused on creating a collaborative environment for sharing verified identity data in a trusted and interoperable manner. Bhutan’s announcement came during the Bhutan Innovation Forum, highlighting its commitment to integrate its NDI system within the larger ecosystem of digital identities. Meanwhile, several tech giants, including Accenture and NTT Digital, among others, are part of the GAN Foundation, indicating a strong support base for such initiatives. The GAN not only aims to establish a trusted digital identity infrastructure but also engages with various stakeholders, including public sector representatives like Ethiopia’s National ID Executive Director, Yodahe Zemichael, to create a cohesive trust network.
