NextgenID Advances In-Person Identity Proofing Network at USPS

NextgenID has successfully initiated the PresenceID Network at U.S. Post Offices, completing the first phase of its collaboration with USPS. This effort involves deploying identity proofing kiosks designed to meet high-security IAL3 standards, enabling local identity verification services nationwide. NextgenID aims to enhance access for governmental and commercial entities while expanding its biometric technology.

NextgenID has made significant progress by finishing the first phase of its PresenceID Network rollout at U.S. Post Offices, marking a key step in its collaboration with the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). This partnership aims to provide identity-proofing services at kiosks, referred to as “Identity Stations,” strategically located across the nation. The recent developments emerged from a strategic pilot program conducted in Washington, D.C. over the past two years.

NextgenID’s PresenceID is the first identity proofing solution certified to meet NIST’s Identity Assurance Level 3 (IAL3), which necessitates both in-person verification and biometric enrollment, suitable for high-security identification. The pilot phase has been described as essential for validating the effectiveness of NextgenID’s technology, as it meets both commercial and governmental identity verification requirements, thus enhancing confidence in its solutions.

Offering a scalable approach, the completion of Phase 1 sets the stage for NextgenID to expand its identity verification services geographically. Mohab Murrar, president and CEO of NextgenID, emphasizes the synergy created by merging their identity proofing expertise with USPS’s extensive infrastructure, facilitating a reliable and accessible nationwide identity proofing network.

The initiative aims to allow governments and businesses, at all levels, to utilize identity proofing services conveniently at their local Post Offices. Implementing its patented SRIP (Supervised Remote Identity Proofing) technology, also known as Onsite Attended Enrollment, NextgenID ensures biometric data collection through cameras and sensors for face, iris, and fingerprint recognition.

Looking forward, Murrar expressed a commitment to further developing the PresenceID Network, aiming to set industry benchmarks for citizen identity proofing services and expand the capabilities of identity verification in a secure manner.

The deployment of NextgenID’s PresenceID at USPS highlights a transformative step in identity verification, offering high-security solutions certified to IAL3 standards. With an effective pilot program underway, NextgenID anticipates scaling its identity proofing network nationally, thereby enhancing accessibility and efficiency for government and commercial entities across the United States.
